The Ann Arbor Blues Society
Encouraging people of all ages to find enjoyment and fulfillment in the rich legacy that is American blues.
The Ann Arbor Blues Society is committed to promoting blues music throughout Southeast Michigan and, in particular, the Ann Arbor area.
We hope to encourage people of all ages to find enjoyment and fulfillment in the rich legacy that is American blues.
To that end, we offer educational programs within our community and work to increase awareness of the blues' rich history and that of the artists who write and perform this uniquely American art form.
Our promotional efforts and participation in blues-related activities and events help to support blues venues and blues artists.
We host regular blues jams, promote local, regional and national blues artists, offer classes on blues music, theory, and history. In this manner, the Ann Arbor Blues Society encourages our community to appreciate the historical value and the enjoyment of blues music.
To help introduce the future generation of blues artists to this important musical genre, we plan to provide educational programs in local schools and aspire to be able to award scholarships to area students.
Check out what the media and press have to say about us. We are really proud of the attention we have been getting, and are thrilled that the public is hearing about what we do. Of course, this means that we're accomplishing our mission to help keep the blues alive!
